Evergreen and Silver Creek Valley are located in the beautiful Santa Clara Valley and are part of the city of San Jose. Once known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight", the valley was originally home to the Ohlone Indians. After years of influence by the Spanish explorers, Father Junipero Serra, and the American gold rush, Santa Clara County was born when California became the 31st state in 1850. San Jose was briefly named the state capitol. Today San Jose is the capitol of what is known as, "Silicon Valley", the place where the computer and high tech age were born and raised.

Both communities, located near the 101 and 85 freeways, have easy access to San Jose International Airport, San Francisco International Airport and Oakland Airport. The area also has several non-commercial airports and is served by the Valley Transit Authority, providing busses, light rail and shuttles.

The United States Department of Education identified 10 Evergreen District schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools. To achieve this honor, a school must first be named a Distinguished School and then undergo further evaluation by a federal review team. Blue Ribbon Schools have demonstrated excellence in academic leadership, quality teaching and teacher development, curriculum, student achievement and parent involvement.

Residents have access to some of the best in culture, entertainment and dining. The San Jose Symphony, Art Museum, and Repertory Theater are just a few of the cultural venues. Local wineries are a popular weekend destination and there are special events scheduled almost weekly at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez. San Jose is home to several exciting minor league teams. Visitors always enjoy trips to Paramount's Great America theme park, Raging Waters, and the famous Winchester Mystery House.
